I think the book will be about a boy, who is chosen to be “The Giver”.
The cover doesn't give you any information about the content of the book. You can see a boy, with short blond hair, who has outstretched arms to an old man. I think the old man was his predecessor and now he introduces the boy in his new tasks.
Maybe “the Giver” has to give people, to whom happened bad things or something else, a “new” life. It can be for example a thing, which the person ever wanted to have.

All in all I think the Giver has the task to reduce the pain and sadness on the earth, with giving the poor, sad people a new chance to live.
Sophia - how can you know all these things from the title and the book cover? I should really work on my interpretation skills on book covers, methinks.
